About Us

Welcome to The Strength Collective. This program came about when we combined our passion for movement and strength training with our love for teaching and helping others. We learned many years ago that fitness is indeed more fun with friends. And you are only as great as the people you surround yourself with. Boom. The Strength Collective was born. We wanted to create a place where you can come as you are and work on yourself - in and out of the gym - with others who want to do the same.

At The Strength Collective, we train with purpose. Prioritize quality over quantity. And of course, get strong as all hell.

Meet the Coaches

Mandy Li,

Strength Coach

Hi everyone! My name is Mandy and I am the head strength coach and founder of The Strength Collective.

I began my fitness journey 8 years ago when I realized that I did not want to go to physical therapy school and pursued my certification as a strength and conditioning coach instead. I grew up as an athlete so working with athletes felt like the “right thing to do”. I earned my 3rd degree blackbelt at the age of 17 and was a competitive Tae Kwon Do athlete for 15 years. Training athletes seemed like the dream. I quickly realized, however, that it was not the path for me. Mostly because I never felt satisfied. I wanted to do more. Most athletes are already strong and incredibly skilled. I was excited to help someone start from scratch. Teach them to use their bodies. Then unlock their inner athlete.

So I pursued a personal training career at Equinox. At the end of my 5 years with them, I realized two things. That I love my job and truly found my calling. I love helping my clients move better, set goals then crush them, and ultimately help them achieve a higher quality of life. But I wanted to step out of the corporate culture. I wanted to create a community place where people can come in and work on all aspects of their health. Without all the fluff and bells and whistles. No eucalyptus towels. No overly priced juices. Just commitment to yourself, mixed with good ol’ fashioned hard work, and excellent coaching.

And so, The Strength Collective was born. I believe we are stronger together than by ourselves. And when we harness that strength, there is no telling what we can do. I can’t wait to commit to you and start your journey, together.

David Sifuentes,

Strength Coach

Hey guys! My name is David and I grew up playing sports and have always been active. In high school I tore my meniscus and MCL. Through rehabilitation I found I had a deeper interest in the body, how it worked and what training could do for it. I ended up studying Kinesiology (with emphasis in Nutrition Wellness & Exercise) for my undergrad at CSU East Bay. It has led me down the great path of learning how best to care for my body and those around me. I have full function in both knees and feel great! Strength training has not only helped me to recover from the injuries I attained while playing sports (soccer, cross country, triathlon) but it also helped me to get stronger and move better - on and off the field.

My methodology is simple.. move often and move well. I want to help my clients succeed inside and outside of the gym because I have seen first hand that building good habits in the gym can translate to a healthier and stronger life outside of that.

I am confident that I can help you get to your goals whether you are just starting out, or want to train for your first marathon or competition!
